Pie Competition
Everyone thinks they have the best homemade recipes, so how about putting it to the test by challenging your coworkers to a contest! To raise money, charge all attendees a small entrance fee to come sample all the delicious pies. Try inviting some local celebrity judges to really get the competition started!
Rake-A-Thon
Before you know it, lawns all over will be covered in leaves! Take this as an opportunity to raise money for UPMC Children’s while getting outside and enjoying the fall weather. Offer to rake the lawns of neighbors, friends, and family in exchange for a donation. You can even set up a JustGiving fundraising page so that your customers can securely give online.
Turkey Raffle
Raffle off a holiday favorite! Reach out to your local grocery stores to see if they will donate some turkeys. Then sell raffle tickets to friends, family, and coworkers for $1, $5, or $10. If you have a turkey that is particularly larger, that can be your “grand prize turkey”! Perhaps throw in some other traditional Thanksgiving side dishes too.
Walk-a-thon / Bike-a-thon
Take advantage of the fall weather by hosting your own walk or biking event. You will want to choose a location and route, pick a date, decide on a registration fee, and print your own t-shirts. Ask local businesses to sponsor your event to help mitigate costs. You can even have a “virtual” component to allow friends and family from all over to participate and support!
Halloween Costume Contest
You can host this classic event at work, school, or a local business! Get creative with your snacks, drinks, music, and decorations to fit the Halloween theme. Your guests pay an entry fee to attend and automatically get entered into the costume contest! You can have different contests categories such as, scariest, funniest, best couples costume, etc. Ask local businesses to donate gift cards for your prizes!
