Ranked in All Specialties
UPMC Children’s was once again nationally ranked in all specialties by U.S. News & World Report, including being named the #2 Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology program in the country.
A Heart Institute First
In November, crews installed a state-of-the-art cardiology MRI, marking what will be the nation’s first MRI-Catheterization Suite for guided procedures. This year, the Heart Institute conducted more than 21,000 patient visits and remains at the forefront of medical outcomes. Donors are contributing to the construction of a new 50,000-square-foot, three-story Heart Institute building scheduled to open in June 2026.
Broke Another Radiothon Record
This year’s Radiothon raised over $1.2 million for the first time ever! Every dollar raised will go directly to UPMC Children’s to help patients like Iris, Elizabeth, and Hanson get the care and they need to thrive.

Investing in Young Investigators
At this year’s Grantmakers, Children’s Trust donors awarded $150,000 in research grants to advance the work of Glenn Rapsinski, MD, PhD, Takuto Chiba, PhD, and Vikram Raghu, MD.
Research Led to a Breakthrough
Kristina Gaietto, MD, MPH, and Juan Celedón, MD, DrPH, developed a first-of-its-kind nasal swab test at UPMC Children’s that enables precise asthma diagnosis in children, paving the way for better treatments.

Covered Treatments for Children Needing Support
In fiscal year 2025, donors enabled our Social Work Department to distribute more than $525,000 in family support grants to help patient families cover out-of-pocket treatment costs.
Celebrated 10 Years of Art Therapy
Earlier this year, Art Therapy celebrated its 10th anniversary by hosting “Soaring to New Heights,” an in-hospital exhibit showcasing the healing power of the arts.

Behavioral health continues to expand. The team opened a second walk-in clinic at UPMC Children’s South this fall and has provided more than 1,300 walk-in evaluations since inception.
