Roughly one in five families in Pittsburgh live below the poverty line, and about three in five children in Pittsburgh experience violence each year.
Your investment in community health helps UPMC Children’s dismantle systemic health disparities and give every child the chance to thrive.
Join us to address the growing demand for behavioral health care of children and adolescents in our region and beyond. UPMC Children’s is working to expand access to vital behavioral health services for children throughout our community.
Donor support powers initiatives that promote the mental, emotional, and behavioral well-being of young people in our region, including:
Many families in our region find themselves without enough healthy food to eat, in unsafe or unstable housing, or with unreliable transportation. The Basic Needs Fund helps to improve their current life circumstances with modest grants.
Literacy is a vital part of a child’s health and development. Through UPMC Children’s Community Health, donors support programs in early literacy, health education, and family wellness – delivered in the community, within the hospital, and across our care locations.
With special thanks to our generous donors and The Rona Jaffe Foundation Endowed Fund for Children’s Literacy, reading programs and health literacy services are offered across the hospital’s footprint to help children and their caregivers build stronger literacy skills. With your support, we can work together to bridge the literacy gap for families and communities.
Support struggling families in finding the help and resources they need to thrive. Family Care Connection centers (FCCs), located throughout Pittsburgh-area neighborhoods as part of the Allegheny County Family Support Network, partner with community-based organizations to support and provide services to the entire family.
Together we will expand and enhance access to care in schools, promoting a culture where healthy eating, physical activity, and social-emotional well-being are the norm.
Imagine having a sick child and no way to take them to the doctor or hospital. Reliable transportation is fundamental for nearly every aspect of life, including access to health care services. Your support helps every child take a step toward a healthy future.
Imagine a world where every child can play, learn, and grow without the fear of preventable injuries. UPMC Children’s Injury Prevention and Safety team is committed to making this vision a reality by leveraging injury data, innovative research, and strong partnerships to promote safety at home, on the go, and in the community, working tirelessly to protect the children and families of Allegheny and surrounding counties.
