Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation ("Foundation") and its supported organization, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, collectively referred to herein as “Children’s”, are committed to providing visitors with an Internet experience that respects and protects their personal privacy.

We have created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy, to explain why we collect particular information and describe how we will protect your personal information within our website. Your Privacy Rights as to Health Information
The Foundation’s website is linked to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh’s website, Children's is committed to keeping your child or teen's health information private and confidential. Our Notice of Privacy Practices describes how we may use and/or disclose your child's health information and also identifies the patient rights under the federal privacy regulations (HIPAA).

You may view or print the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh’s Notice of Privacy Practices or pick up a copy of the brochure at any registration desk at the hospital.

What Information We Collect and How We Use That Information
When you use our site, we collect anonymous information. Anonymous information is information about how a visitor uses our site (such as places visited and searches performed).

Anonymous information also includes the domain names and/or IP addresses (the number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet) of browsers that visit our site, time of day the site was visited, and other non-personally identifiable information.

Our site uses a registration form for visitors to request information, be placed on a mailing list or make a charitable gift. The registration form requires visitors to give us contact information that may include name, e-mail address, format preference (HTML vs. Text), address, interests, and other similar information. We also collect financial information (such as an account or credit card number) in the online donation form. This information is used to fulfill visitor requests and process donations.

The visitor's contact information also is used to get in touch with the visitor when necessary. For example, we might have a question about the processing of a donation. If a visitor requests, we may use the contact information to send the visitor additional information about Children's. We do not request or store sensitive information from our visitors, such as credit card or social security numbers.

Visitors may opt-out of receiving future mailings (see the choice/opt-out section below). The personally identifiable information we collect is not used for any purposes other than processing of donations and dissemination of information. Additionally, it is not disclosed to anyone other than Children's and its partners, contractors and agents, unless we are required to comply with a court order or other legal process, or we must do so to protect our rights or property.

Please note that Children's will not intentionally share the contents of any email or form submitted through this site with any third party. However, due to the nature of electronic communications, we cannot and do not provide assurances that the contents will not become known or accessible to third parties.

Children's Privacy
We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. The website is intended for adults and young people age 13 and over. It is not intended for or designed to attract persons under the age of 13. We do not permit registration by, nor do we collect personally identifiable information from, any person we actually know to be under the age of 13.

Use of "Cookies"

Choice/Opt-Out
Our site provides visitors the opportunity to opt-out (or opt-in) of receiving communications from us at the point at which we request information about the visitor. A visitor who does not wish to receive future communications should email us at gifts@chp.edu.

Correct/Update
A visitor who wishes to modify or correct information previously provided should email us at gifts@chp.edu.

Tell-A-Friend
If a visitor elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our website, we ask them for the friend's name and e-mail address. Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation will automatically send the friend a onetime e-mail inviting them to visit our website. Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time e-mail.
