What is a Form 990?

Form 990 is an annual informational filing required by the Internal Revenue Service for certain organizations that are exempt from federal income taxes because they pursue charitable, educational, or religious purposes. The information is filed with the Internal Revenue Service a year after the close of the fiscal year that is the subject of the filing. The information listed on the Form 990 available below relates to information about the 2013 Fiscal Year (July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013).

Form 990 provides the public with an understanding of a tax-exempt organization’s mission; details of its financial condition, including sources of income and a breakdown of expenses; the compensation of its key employees, and other relevant information.

In Fiscal Year 2013, the Foundation contributed more than $37.8 million to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC in support of new hospital construction, research, clinical programs, medical education, and funds for Free Care.
