Heart Institute Auxiliary of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation

For children with heart disease, only the most advanced, experienced, and comprehensive care will do. The Heart Institute Auxiliary of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation was formed to establish a network of volunteers who are committed to helping the physicians and staff at the Heart Institute at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC transform the lives of patients and families dealing with heart disease. This dynamic group of volunteers is dedicated to increasing awareness and raising vital funds to enhance the quality of care provided to our patients. These funds help support innovative services and research, improved treatment options, state-of-the-art equipment, and support programs such as the Dr. Bill Neches Heart Camp. Meet our Auxiliary members here!

How Can You Help?

If you or someone you know has been touched by heart disease, joining the Heart Institute Auxiliary is a meaningful way to honor them as you devote energy to help advance the care and research needed to create brighter futures. Our members are as diverse as the patients we treat. Men and women of all ages, occupations, and backgrounds have joined together with a common desire to support families and help children with heart disease.

From volunteer opportunities to leadership roles, the Heart Institute Auxiliary offers several levels of involvement:

  • Volunteer at fundraising events
  • Join or lead an event-planning committee
  • Organize fundraising efforts, both big and small
  • Become an ambassador and promote the Heart Institute within your community

For more information on how you can become involved, contact Kellie Surmacz at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation at or 412-692-3927.
