We're all neighbors when we help kids.

No matter the distance or diagnosis, one thing remains true - Every child, parent, and caregiver is our neighbor; and in Pittsburgh, our neighbors are family. With the spirit of helping those around us, a gift from you lifts up these children and families during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

When you give to UPMC Children’s, you give neighbors near and far hope, healing, and a chance for a brighter tomorrow. You give them moments of comfort, relief, and joy. You remind them that they are not alone, and that they are surrounded by a community who cares.

Because we are all neighbors when we help kids.

Juju’s Journey

Girl with cancer in hospital bed smilingWhen you meet Juju (Julie) for the first time, you're likely to find her riding around the unit on her motorized unicorn passing out lollipops to the patients and staff. Juju is a typical 4-year-old, except she has been battling cancer for the last 10 months.

In February 2021, Juju was diagnosed with stage IV, high-risk, neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a cancer that develops from immature nerve cells found in several areas of the body. While rare, neuroblastoma almost always affects children.

Juju’s journey continues this holiday season, but she has helpers. Her friends and family at home, her medical team at UPMC Children’s and a community of neighbors like you fighting for her.

Katie, Juju’s mom, may say it best: “Pittsburgh is Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, and we need to be 'helpers' when called.”
